  • SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Josephine Tolbert, 75, dropped off her great-granddaughter at school and returned to find the locks changed on her Bay Area home, which she bought in 1973. True Compass LLC sold her house to profit real estate speculators and then posted San Francisco police officers at the entrance to prevent Tolbert from returning. Tolbert, who fell behind on payments because of an illness, must now abandon her childcare services (and the 2 families dependent on her).

Tolbert was denied from retrieving her basic belongings, including diapers. "This isn't how seniors should be treated over the holidays," Tolbert stated. Tragically, kicking old people out of their homes has become a national trend.

Protestors are already confronting the officers at the Tolbert residence. Join them in telling these real estate moguls to give Tolbert her house back!

  • Dennis "Tree" Rubenstein has lived in his neighborhood since 1974. Dennis is on a mission to teach people of all ages where food comes from while giving away free, organic food.

He started the Free Food Stand at a local San Francisco park in 2008. But now, because of merely four complaints in the last four years, park officials are trying to shut the Free Food Stand down!

This resource is cherished by its community. It provides a source of education, helps the community come together, and does the obvious: give away free food.

Dennis never intended to do harm to anyone. He simply wants to do the right thing and give back to his community. Why should he be penalized for that?

Access to organic food should be available to everyone. Dennis' Free Food Stand does just that and a whole lot more. Support the Free Food Stand and fight for their presence in the park!

  • In 1977, Brooklyn-based artist Tom Otterness filmed himself shooting and killing a dog he had adopted from an animal shelter. The City of San Francisco, having apparently forgotten this "performance piece," is about to give Mr. Otterness $750,000 in public funds for new sculptures around the city.

Mayor Ed Lee's administration agreed to the contract without a background check; now they need to understand the consequences of their deal. Sign this petition to send Mayor Lee the message that San Francisco, a dog-lover's city, will not stand for Mr. Otterness's art and what it represents.

Your signatures will be printed out and personally delivered to San Francisco City Hall.
