Sabriye Tenberken was born in Cologne in Germany. At age 12 she became blind. She studied Central Asian Sciences at Bonn University. In addition to Mongolian and modern Chinese, she studied modern and classical Tibetan in combination with sociology and philosophy. As no blind student had ever before ventured to enroll in these kind of studies, she could not fall back on the experiences of anyone else %u2013 and had to develop her own methods in order to follow her course of studies. Out of this need, Sabriye developed the Tibetan Braille Script. Sabriye initiated the project for the blind in Tibet and is the co-founder and co-director of Braille Without Borders. Next to fundraising and communication with official and sponsor organisations she is responsible for the development of the curricula, training of teachers and trainers and initially she also taught blind children herself. %u201CMy path leads to Tibet%u201D, %u201CTashis neue Welt%u201D, %u201CDas siebte Jahr%u201D.

In 1999, Khenchen Lama Rinpoche established an orphanage and a shelter for older people near Jewo monastery in Tibetan province Kham. At that point there were 30 children and 10 older people who did not have any family or government support to provide for them. Moved by their suffering, Khenchen Rinpoche decided to launch a project that would provide the basic needs of food and shelter for the orphans and elders and help them cultivate wisdom and compassion that would guide them to a better future. Arrangements were made for the children to receive basic general education, training in Tibetan and Chinese languages, as well as meditation. In addition, elders interested in meditation received practice instructions from Rinpoche and were supported in their desire to engage in deep meditation practice. Over the last nine years the orphanage and shelter for older people grew in size. Currently, there are 150 children, seven to eighteen years old, and 30 older people between sixty and eighty years of age. While the progress of children and elders in their study and meditation practice is encouraging, there is increasing need to provide for them.

NO supports, NO safety nets and NO protective services, all but guarantees the likelihood of abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with developmental disabilities in Pennsylvania. A proposed 17.3 million budget cut makes a horrible situation worse!
Pennsylvania can't afford to have people sit at home with nothing, or forced into extremely costly institutional settings. There needs to be a shift in funding to "Community- based waivers" that supports individuals and families in their communities.

Breastfeeding and child custody

Breastfeeding needs to be taken into consideration when determining physical child custody disputes. Infants under one year of age who are being breastfed should not be separated from their mother for extended periods of time. While it is true that a breast pump can be used in the absence of the child(due to him/her being with the father for parenting time)this should not be allowed to happen for an extended period of time. For example, the father keeping the child more than two days with overnights. A breast pump device is not as effective as a baby is at extracting milk from the breasts. Inefficient removal of the milk can cause the supply of milk to diminish and for some women, they may be forced to discontinue breastfeeding. Breastfeeding does offer greater nutritive value and health benefits to the child and helps build and strengthen the immune system of a baby, while also reducing the child's risk of allergies, asthma, and childhood obesity.

Help Stop PAS(parental alienation syndrome)

PAS is parental alienation syndrome. Over 2 years our blended family has been through a lot. There has been accusations against me and it has to stop. I'm tired of sitting back and letting the mother of my stepdaughter abuse her rights as a parent. I want to take a stand for my Blended Family.PAS has to stop! I'm not only taking a stand for my family but for everyone else that has to deal with this too. Children deserve BOTH parents!
Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) is one such theory. This unsophisticated, pseudoscientific theory explains a child's estrangement from one parent or allegations of abuse at the hands of one parent by blaming the other. The theory, developed by the late Richard A. Gardner, M.D., portrays the preferred parent (usually the mother under PAS) as an evil "alienator" who is virtually solely responsible for turning a vulnerable child against their estranged parent (usually the father under PAS).
