Men-Tsee-Khang (the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute) was established on March 23rd, 1961, with Dr. Yeshi Dhonden and Ven. Lodoe Gyatso as the heads of the Medical and Astrological sections, respectively.

Initially, Men-Tsee-Khang lacked necessary facilities, money, and staff, and was situated in a room on the upper floor of an old house in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, in Himachal Pradesh. Mcleod Ganj is a small town known as "Little Lhasa", situated at the base of the Dhauladhar mountains at 1768 meters above main sea level. At present, the Institute's headquarters in Dharamsala oversees the operation of 48 branch clinics in India, Nepal and three residential doctors abroad.

WE NEED HEALTH CARE REFORM NOW.  THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH NO HEALTH CARE.  PLEASE TELL OUR GOVERNMENT TO ACT NOW.

THIS PETITION IS FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA, CONGRESS AND THE SENATE TO LET THEM HEAR OUR VOICES THAT WE WANT A UNIVERSAL, SINGLE-PAYER, HEALTH CARE SYSTEM NOW.
WE VOTED FOR CHANGE, AND WE WANT THEM TO KEEP THEIR PROMISE. 

Dear Representative Neugebauer:

Congress has yet to pass a bill to stop the cut or to come up with a long-term solution for the Medicare program. So now we are right in the middle of the Medicare Meltdown.

So now Congress has extended the deadline another 28 days or so, which is the same thing that Congress has done for the past decade ― put off the problem. Our elderly, disabled, and military patients deserve a better solution. We all deserve a better solution. This 28-day freeze is worthless if Congress doesn’t spend the next 28 days devising and passing a permanent new Medicare payment formula.

Without a permanent solution to Medicare’s faulty formula used to pay physicians, the cuts grow deeper each year. In the next few years, physicians could see a cut as deep as 40 percent.

We need Washington to understand that they’re playing politics with our patients’ lives.

Please forward my message to Sen. Klobuchar: I'm very disappointed that you are not willing to back a health care public option. I'm surprised that you don't seem to know that the only way to hold the insurance companies and their abuses in check, apart from getting rid of them altogether, is either to have a strong public option plan to compete with the insurance companies, or else strict regulation that forbids them from making a profit off of health care, and controls what they pay providers and what they cover. I hope you haven't been fooled by the Minnesota HMOs, which get less Medicare money than other states' HMOs but still make a nice profit for themselves. Please act more like a progressive Senator, like Paul Wellstone was, and less like a "blue dog" Democrat. Wellstone would be telling you to stick up more for the little guys, and fight the insurance companies.
