I'm writing to ask that you take immediate action to pass legislation that will restore historic Clean Water Act protections to rivers, streams, and wetlands in Illinois and nationwide. Since 1972, America has trusted that the Clean Water Act protects virtually all of America's lakes, streams, and wetlands from pollution and destruction. However, recent Supreme Court decisions have threatened the EPA's ability to protect the public from water pollution. Over half of Illinois' river and streams may have lost protections, along with 12% of our remaining wetlands; at least 700 industrial polluters may be able to claim that the Clean Water Act no longer applies to them. Please act now to pass legislation that will restore Clean Water Act protections to waters that have been left vulnerable since 2001. At risk are clean drinking water reserves for millions of Illinoisans, not to mention life-saving flood storage and irreplaceable wildlife habitat for ducks, other waterfowl and shorebirds, and a myriad of fish species.

Dear Friends, Campaigners,
Warm greetings from Sabah, Malaysia.
I am seeking your support on behalf of the Action Committee Against Kaiduan Dam which was set up by communities potentially affected directly by the Kaiduan dam. A number of NGOs are also helping us in our campaign and I hope you/your organisation could support by writing a letter to the Sabah government to reconsider the building of this dam.

Company Waste

In a world that is quickly falling apart, I find it completely irresponsible that companies are allowed to generate waste of electricity and garbage . i work in an office that laughs at my interest in recycling and insists that I keep recycling boxes hidden far under my desk . Another employee has been reprimanded for keeping empty water bottles at her desk until she takes them home to recycle , simply because it is unsightly . When leaving the office , they insist we leave the lights on because the cleaning people will be coming in to clean within a few hours. . . There really should be some responsibility taken by companies such as the one I work for . Why is it I am encouraged to recycle and save at home , but companies are not ?

The Tongass National Forest, the nation's largest national forest, covers most of Southeast Alaska, surrounding the famous Inside Passage. It offers unique chances to view eagles, bears, spawning salmon, and the breath-taking vistas of "wild" Alaska.

At 17 million acres, the Tongass is our largest national forest and is one of the last, intact coastal temperate rainforests in the world. Old-growth forests and salmon streams still support abundant fish and wildlife populations, sustain traditional ways of life, provide outstanding recreation opportunities, and serve as the lynchpin for local economies. Yet for decades the Tongass has also been a place of controversy where land issues pit neighbor against neighbor. The Sealaska bill only serves to continue and codify this conflict.
