The Position: Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Chief of HealthCare Operations (“CHO”) will be a key member of the senior executive team responsible for providing strategic leadership, executive oversight and positioning the organization for the continued growth and expansion of its healthcare operations. The CHO should be highly skilled and entrepreneurial and have extensive knowledge and understanding of public health programs at the Federal and New York State level serving Medicaid and Medicare populations, managed care and the business of healthcare in order to bring new dimension and vision to F•E•G•S’s strategic direction for this portfolio of services and initiatives.
The successful candidate must be capable of integrating seamlessly into the senior executive management at F•E•G•S and fit into the organization’s culture. He or she must be able to work closely with the CEO, the Executive Vice President, the Board of Directors and F•E•G•S program staff in a supportive and collaborative manner. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, a hands-on management style and the ability to address and solve problems or issues as they arise. In addition, he or she will be diplomatic, of the highest integrity, and possess sound judgment as well as a sense of humor.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Establish a strong working partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and senior Executive staff of the Agency built on a shared vision for future growth;
• Oversee a group of senior executives responsible for several major operating divisions in the healthcare arena with a total operating budget of approximately $150 million and over 200 staff, and develop a strategy to integrate services along the healthcare continuum;
• Help shape the organization’s overall healthcare strategy and direction to take advantage of new business opportunities in emerging markets resulting from Medicaid reform, including but not limited to, health homes, managed care, DISCO’s integrated medical care, care management , housing and homecare;
• Work in close partnership with leadership in the areas of Finance, Quality and Compliance, and Healthcare Technology to ensure a high quality, integrated, state of the art healthcare delivery system for the organization;
• Serve as senior representative and liaison of the organization to federal, state and local government entities and government officials, managed care insurance companies and other businesses in negotiating and promoting the organization’s interests in the healthcare market;
• Responsible for the financial performance of all healthcare operating areas and ensuring effective management systems, controls and financial reporting systems;
• Responsible for the overall quality of care delivered across the organization’s healthcare operations and compliance with all regulatory standards and requirements; and
• As a member of the senior executive team will serve as a strategic partner in the organization’s overall executive planning and future growth strategy, and actively work in collaboration with the senior executive team to contribute to the overall goals of the organization.
