Australia, stop cruelty to exported cattle!

-

It's been almost a year since ABC broadcast a horrific story on cruelty to imported cattle in Indonesian slaughter houses. But cattle exports from Australia have resumed, and many animal rights advocates say new laws on how the exported animals can be treated are at best "token." Australian cows, slaughtered in Indonesia, do not even have to be stunned first as the new laws only recommend stunning.

Animal rights activists have, in particular, questioned why Australia does not demand that exported cattle be treated with the same humanity that is required of Australia's home meat industry. Join Australia's Greens, veterinarians, and animal activists in demanding better laws governing live exports!

ABC Do Not Air the Sitcom "Work It"

-

'Work It' makes a mockery of transgender peoples struggles in the work place and empowers those with dormant transphobia to act on those urges with violence.
It reinforces the biased stereotypical misogynistic social constructs that transsexuals are not "real" people and therefore of no worth.

Currently the president of ABC Paul Lee takes no responsibilities for the damaging effects of "Work It" even as he acknowledges the reasons for the public outcry against it. In fact he  http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/news/a333908/abc-president-paul-lee-i-make-... laughs at our suffering  even though as an intelligent man he undoubtly understands how “Work It” would contribute to transgender discrimination and murders.

Please ad your name to those who ask "Work It" not be aired.

Dallas Transgender Advocates and Allies Thank you!

Debt collectors can't quit getting lawsuits and grievances from FTC

-

Though a lot of the damage is self-inflicted, few industries are as maligned as the debt collection industry. A growing number of suits are being filed by the FTC and the bureau keeps receiving complaints about debt collectors from consumers. Resource for this article: Debt collector complaints surge along with FTC lawsuits

Increasingly more fed suits

Collectors do not have a simple job, trying to get individuals to pay debt they incurred and can’t pay. Several debt collection firms and employees are as honest and honorable as anyone in any other profession, but the number of bad apples in the trade has been giving the market a bad name.

Fewer people complain about online payday advance lenders than they do about collectors.

Blog Post: 'Switched at Birth' Star Wants Zoo to Ditch Elephants

-

Actor and mom Constance Marie has fired off a letter to Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido to ask that he put an end to the elephant rides at the Santa Ana Zoo. Constance, who stars in ABC Family's new show Switched at Birth, was sickened after watching video footage of trainers with Have Trunk Will Travel—who provide the elephants for the rides—as they beat elephants with bullhooks and shocked them with electric prods.
