Job Summary:
The Certifications Sr. Test Development Manager oversees the test development and item writing process for APICS' certification programs.
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or its equivalent from a four-year college is required, preferably in a liberal arts field that has emphasized writing and research.
Qualifications Desired:
• 2-4 years of related experience, preferably in an association environment such as international services, member services, certification, or customer service, where he or she has had departmental, project or large task management authority.
• A background in educational testing and assessment industry is strongly recommended. Item and Test Development experience, as well as teaching experience, is a plus.
• Proven ability in certification test management, volunteer management, and database report generation.
• Strong customer service work ethic.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• The ability to analyze, coordinate, document, manage and improve business processes.
• Prior experience with certification, credentialing, or accreditation programs in an association environment is preferred.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Provides support to the staff liaison for the Certification Committee, including the individual exam sub-committees.
• Works effectively with APICS volunteers and the professional staff in planning and monitoring the resources needed and used to produce test items for APICS certification examinations.
• Provides statistical data including candidate survey information, exam pass rates, and testing trends generated from the APICS Aptify database for committee review.
• Participates in developing the exam infrastructure and technical requirements necessary for providing alternative testing methods.
• Coordinates the volunteer committees' review and approval of new examination forms including analysis of psychometric data.
• Proofs new exam forms for content clarity and accuracy.
• Continually evaluates APICS' certification procedures and infrastructure for compliance with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation standards, and identifies and documents areas that are not in compliance.
• Creates and contributes content for the APICS Web site regarding certification testing, scoring, item creation processes, and other issues.
• Responds to inquiries from candidates, instructors, etc. regarding exam content.
• Pursues copyright permissions with Publishers of Exam Reference Materials.
• Helps to facilitate periodic Certification Job Task Analysis research projects.
• May participate in the establishment of performance expectations for team members, tracking progress in meeting expectations, providing feedback, and providing input in the performance review process.

• Reasoning Ability- Incumbent must be able to apply common sense understanding to supply or to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form, and be able to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized and non-standard situations.
• Technology Skills- Ability to accurately and efficiently use e-mail, spreadsheets technology (Excel), and the advanced features of word processing technology (Word) such as merge, indexing, and macro creation to produce and edit correspondence, contracts, and other documents. Incumbent must be familiar and comfortable with data processing, database applications and preferably be comfortable to write/generate report queries using SQL or report writing applications such as Crystal. Ability to use normal office equipment such as phones, copiers, scanners, VOIP applications, etc is expected.
